For better or worse, a character can make a big difference in a single sitcom episode. For example, the show Friends had several guest characters only in that episode. Well-known actors often played these characters. Some of these characters stood out because fans liked them, while other characters stood out because they were just wrong. Even though these characters, like Screaming Tommy, Amanda Buffamonteezi, and Dr. Hobart, only spent a short amount of time with the Friends characters, they left their mark as the worst.
Erika Ford (Season 2, Episode 12)
Erika, played by Brooke Shields, was a pretty Days of Our Lives fan that Joey wanted to date. Things aren’t working out well for the couple since Erika didn’t see that Joey wasn’t Dr. Drake Ramoray.
Susie Moss (Season 2, Episode 13)
Susie Moss worked as a makeup artist on a movie set that the “friends” got to visit. She went to school with him, and she was very interested in him. On Friends, Chandler usually went on bad blind dates, so he was happy to get attention from a pretty woman.
Malcolm (Season 3, Episode 3)
David Arquette played Malcolm. Back then the episode was filmed, he was dating Courtney Cox. The character started following Phoebe because he thought she was Ursula, Phoebe’s twin sister. Once Phoebe talked to him about it, she said she would help him quit.
Tommy (Season 3, Episode 22)
Rachel started dating Ben Stiller’s character Tommy soon after her relationship with Ross ended. Ross was determined to act normal around Rachel’s new date, Tommy, but it was hard for him to do so when he found out that Tommy was the wrong person.
Tim (Season 3, Episode 24)
Since Friends was one of the most popular sitcoms ever, many stars wanted to join in and make guest appearances. Billy Crystal and Robin Williams were in the area on the day of filming, so they decided to join the cast and play Tim and Tomas, two random customers at Central Perk.
The Man on the Plane is a story (Season 4, Episode 24)
Some of the Friends’ side characters don’t even need names. Rachel decided to fly to London at the last minute to tell Ross how she felt before his wedding. It was good that the flight was so long that she could think things over. Hugh Laurie played a man who sat next to her on that flight and didn’t care about her problems.
Steve Carrell (Season 5, Episode 15)
Ross was annoyed when Steve, one of his new neighbors, asked him to give $100 to the building’s retiring Super as a gift.
Melissa Warburton (Season 7, Episode 20)
Rachel was happy to meet up with Melissa, a sorority sister she used to have (Winona Ryder). Rachel told Phoebe that she had once kissed Melissa. This was after they ran into each other and made dinner plans. Rachel was upset that Phoebe didn’t believe her, so she asked Rachel to come to dinner with Melissa and Melissa to show Phoebe that she was right.
Amanda Buffamonteezi (Season 10, Episode 3)
Monica and Phoebe had known Amanda (Jennifer Coolidge) for a long time, but neither liked her. When she went on the show, she had just come back from living in Europe and had an annoying fake accent.
Dr. Benjamin Hobart (Season 10, Episode 6)
A character named Charlie, played by Aisha Tyler, went out with Ross for a few episodes. She was a brilliant paleontologist, and Ross felt awkward around her because she had only ever dated Nobel Prize winners like her ex-boyfriend, Dr. Benjamin Hobart.
